On August 22nd the Buildings Division was awarded its next “Cathedral.” But this one is not a renovation. The project is a new 13,300-square-foot Chapel of the North American
Martyrs located on the Jesuit High School campus in Carmichael, CA.
In addition to the chapel, the project includes a new terraced parking lot with landscaping, student plaza with water feature, student drop off and a new signaled intersection with a main entrance to the campus off of Fair Oaks Boulevard. Preconstruction is scheduled to start immediately.
HMH was the original builder of the Jesuit campus in 1963. Over the years, HMH has built the classroom buildings, priests’ quarters, library and gymnasium.
For this project, HMH will work with Hodgetts + Fung, a Los Angeles based architecture firm selected by Jesuit’s Building Committee as the project designer, to complete the project. Construction is expected to begin in June 2009.
HMH’s experience renovating the historic Cathedral of the Blessed Sacramento, the quality of its Preconstruction services, and its history of delivering successful projects on the Jesuit campus were all instrumental in Jesuit’s selection.
